'"Haleiwa Sunset" captures the explosive energy of Oahu’s North Shore at dusk. A striking female figure rendered in bold black and white Posca lines emerges against a vibrant backdrop of oranges, fuchsia pinks, and fiery reds—the impossible colors that paint Haleiwa’s legendary sunsets.

The background comes alive with silhouettes of ‘iwa birds (frigatebirds) soaring across the sky—the sacred seabirds that give Haleiwa its name. In Hawaiian, “Hale’iwa” means “house of the ‘iwa bird,” and these magnificent creatures have been spiritual messengers and navigators for generations of Hawaiians. Their graceful forms sweep across the burning sky, connecting the piece to the deep cultural and natural history of the North Shore.'
